NBA star Vince Carter will be sky-walking in Hong Kong during his visit on July 25 as a special guest of the Nike All-Hong Kong Youth Basketball League.
The Toronto Raptors superstar will attend the Free-style Lay-up Contest of the league, while meeting his local fans and giving training tips to the league players.
More than 200 players from this year's youth league will take part in the Free-style Lay-up Contest, in which finalists will be adjudicated and given professional advice by Carter.
Nicknamed Skywalker, the six-foot six (1.98 meters) Raptors star is well known for his jumping ability and breathtaking plays in the air. As the winner of the 2000 NBA slam dunk contest, Carter astonished the world with his dunking over a seven-foot (2.13 meters) opponent during the 2000 Sydney Olympics. This alone makes him the ideal choice to judge the Free-style Lay-up Contest in Hong Kong.
The All-Hong Kong Youth Basketball League is in its sixth consecutive year. Out of 4,700 basketball lovers who have participated in the Tryouts, a total of 168 boys and 48 girls were selected to form teams and competed in the league.
