Shanghai's retail sales totaled 99.59 billion yuan (US$12 billion) in the first half of the year, an increase of 9.8 percent over a year ago, the Shanghai Commerce Commission said Monday. The total was 1.59 billion yuan, or 1.8 percentage points, higher than the commission expected.
