South Korean third largest city of Daegu municipal has launched a task force to thwart any terrorist attack using anthrax or any other biological agents ahead of the opening of the Universiade,South Korean Yonhap News Agency reported on Tuesday.
The Quarantine Situation Room for the Daegu Summer Universiade began operating jointly with the South Korean National Health Institute and regional health institutes to collect information onbiological terrorism and outbreaks of epidemics,reported Yonhap.
The situation room will also focus on detecting anthrax and other hazardous materials in post offices,student athlete residences and sports facilities.
The 2003Daegu Summer Universiade is expected to attract some 11,000athletes from 170countries and regions,a record in Universiade history.
