Bolivian and Nicaraguandelegations to the Daegu World University Games have been forced to delay their arrival due to problems of flights caused by the widespread power outage, according to organizers.
The delegations, comprising three members each, were supposed to arrive at Incheon International Airport via New York and Miami airports, but failed to stick to the schedule since the largest blackout which hit the northeastern United States and Canada prevented airplanes from taking off and landing at the airports.
Officials from the 2003Universiade Organizing Committee were unsure as to whether the delegations could arrive by the opening day of universiade on Thursday.
The officials said they were making efforts to have both of thedelegations attend the opening ceremony at Daegu World Cup Stadiumand the events they were scheduled to take part in.
The organizers anticipated 170delegations'arrival at the South Korean city of Daegu, host of the 22nd Summer Universiade.
