Someone might take U-Dreami as name of an official organization as it appears on the homepage of the Daegu Universiade's official website. But it's not.
It's the name of a group which consists of 11university students. The group has played a key role in attracting support for the Daegu World University Games since being set up in Octoberlast year.
The students of the group have visited 11countries on five continents, accompanying officials from the organizing committee, and held a variety of activities aimed at publicizing the event and the city of Daegu.
With the Universiade just several days away,U-Dreami is still busy attending events to draw worldwide attention to Daegu. They even represented the organizers when they met international sportsfigures and officials from around the world.
"It was physically challenging for all of us because we had a tight schedule, but nothing can match what we have learned throughexperiences,"said Kim Min-joong,a U-Dreami member from the DaeguNational University of Education.
The 26-year-old missed several classes due to his work with theU-Dreami,forcing him to drop out of school. But everything has gone very well and the experience he accumulated through the activities is something that cannot be exchanged for anything,he said.
U-Dreami's activities will continue until one month after the Universiade concludes on Aug.31.They will attend official functions organized by the event's organizing committee to greet people who contributed to the hosting of the event, according to officials.
Yun Gi-mi,24,a student from the Catholic University of Daegu, said the experiences will be of great help when she acts as a volunteer again for an international forum starting Aug.18in Anmyeon-do,South Chungcheong province.
"Most of all,it was interesting and fun to go around many countries,"Yun said."I'm proud of helping promote the Universiade."
Yun accompanied officials to promote Daegu in Turin,Italy, where the first Universiade was held in 1959,and other cities that ever hosted the event.
