The Democratic People's Republicof Korea (DPRK)will send athletes and supporters to the upcoming Daegu Universiade,said a spokesman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland on Tuesday.

The 500-strong delegation will strive to make the Daegu Universiade an important occasion in demonstrating to the world they spirit of one Korea in which the DPRK and South Korea would firmly join hands,the spokesman said.

The spokesman said that the DPRK resumed its decision to participate in the Universiade because the South Korea side had make an apology for its anti-DPRK demonstration.

The DPRK Sunday announced that they would not participate in the 22nd Universiade out of security concern originating from the anti-DPRK movement of South Korean ultra-right forces.
