The Uruguayan delegation to the World University Games here felt very much at home when they were surprised by the organizers'hospitality to arrange for the celebrations for their Independence Day away from home on Monday.

"We will never forget you and hope you do the same.It has been like at home to be here,"Julio Jacob,head of the delegation,said during their celebration for the event in the Athletes'Village on Monday.

The event prepared by the Congratulatory Event Department of the Daegu Universiade Organizing Committee,gave the Uruguayans a sweet surprise as Village Mayor Synn Il-hi was present along with some 20supporters composed of Daegu residents for the 25-member delegation.

"We are delighted to commemorate the important and meaningful day away from home,"said Jacob in a speech.

"It is a great pleasure for us to celebrate the Independence Day of Uruguay,"Synn said."We wish Uruguay shines like the rising sun and keep flourishing."

The organizers also planned events for 12other delegations after a total of four have been carried out so far for Ukraine,Senegal,Hungary and Uruguay.
