Beijing six-party talks enter final day 29/8/2003

The Beijing six-party talks on the Korean nuclear issue entered the final day Friday, and are expected to conclude around noon, sources said.

During the previous two days of talks, delegates from China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the United States, the Republic of Korea (ROK), Russia and Japan, fully explained their principled stands and proposals on resolving the Korean nuclear issue. The talks were conducted in a frank atmosphere, according to China's Foreign Ministry.

Some of the delegations also met separately on the sidelines of the talks.

The six-party talks began Wednesday in Beijing, and are considered another important step forward in resolving the Korean nuclear issue through peaceful means.
