South Korea's foreign minister will visit the United States next week for talks on the results of multilateral nuclear talks in Beijing which ended Friday,announced the ministry.
During the six-day trip starting on Sept.2,Yoon Young-kwan,the South Korean top diplomat,is scheduled to meet high-ranking US government officials such as Secretary of State Colin Powell to discuss follow-up measures on the Beijing six-nation talks on the nuclear issue.
China,the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK),the United States,South Korea,Russia and Japan attended the three-day meeting in the China's capital aiming to solve the nuclear issue.
The meeting is generally viewed locally as a good start of a long process to resolve the 10-month standoff.
The six countries agreed to continue such talks by convening another meeting,according to the South Korean top delegate to the talks,Lee Soo-hyuck.
The nuclear crisis erupted last October after US officials said the DPRK admitted to having a secret nuclear weapons program.
