The United States said Friday that it will not give in to any blackmail after the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)acknowledged it has nuclear weapons.

"The DPRK statement is an explicit acknowledgement that the DPRK has nuclear weapons,but the United States will not respond to threats or give in to blackmail,"State Department spokeswoman Jo-Anne Prokopowicz told reporters.

US State Department confirmed Thursday that DPRK delegation hastold six-party talks in Beijing it is preparing to declare itself a nuclear nation and is contemplating testing nuclear weapons.
