All the preparations for containing the gas well,which exploded Tuesday in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality,are ready,said authorities and technicians Saturday morning.

Some 480cubic meters of mud were assembled and stood by the scene and 80technicians armed with protective clothes and respiratory machines have entered the well's mouth under close monitoring of medical experts.

The toxic gas started bursting from the well in Gaoqiao Town of Kaixian County on Tuesday night,poisoning over 9,000people to different extent and killing at 191others by press time.

The air quality remains fine currently and all the measurement meters point to zero,according to the rescue headquarters.

The escaping sulfurated hydrogen was set afire to reduce the risk of poisoning on Wednesday afternoon,sending out heat waves,clouds of smoke and loud cracks.

The original operation scheduled on Friday to cap the well was postponed till Saturday to give more time for rescue teams to search for survivors and bodies near the gas field.Enditem

Gas field cleared for the cap operation

KAIXIAN,Chongqing,Dec.27(Xinhuanet)--The gas field in Kaixian County of west China's Chongqing Municipality has been cleared to get ready for the cap operation set at 10:00am Saturday.

Reporters have withdrawn from the field to safe places.Seven Xinhua reporters who tries to approach to the operation site are asked to stay at least four kilometers away.

The gas field blowout that occured on Tuesday has killed 191people.
