China's Ministry of Civil Affairs has sent over 10,000quilts to the area hit by a severe natural gas blowout in Kaixian County in Chongqing Municipality,a spokesman for the county government said Sunday.

The county has also received over 300tons of food,medicine and other donations from neighboring areas,the spokesman said.

Some evacuators have begun returning home after a successful capping of the gas well Saturday morning.

The tragedy occurred Tuesday night,when some mixed poisonous gas rushed out of a natural gas well,leaving at least 198people killed.

Air and water in most villages are safe for life now,according to the local environment protection department,which completed the testing of water,air and soil samples in various villages Saturday night.

But some villages still have high concentration of poisonous gas and evacuators from these areas should postpone their returning.
