Chinese and overseas reporters on Wednesday arrived in central China's Hubei Province, which has reported the country's most bird flu cases, to probe for clues linked to the outbreak.
The media group was organized by the Information Office of the State Council, China's cabinet. Nine media organizations joined the trip, including Xinhua New Agency, CNN from the United States, and the Asahi Shimbun and Kyodo News Agency from Japan. The reporters will visit Wuxue City, where the province's first avian influenza case was reported, infected counties and some large chicken farms.
The province has so far reported 10 cases of suspected or confirmed bird flu, making it the most-heavily-infected area in China so far.
Jan. 30, the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture announced that poultry deaths at a farm near Wuxue City had resulted from the H5N1 virus, marking the debut of the disease in the province.
