The American Airlines announced Monday that it will resume scheduled flights between the United States and Haiti this weekend, according to reports from Port-au-Prince.
The American Airlines had three flights every day from Miami and New York to Port-au-Price, the capital city of Haiti. Due to the unrest in Haiti, it has canceled all the flights since last weekend.
After Haiti's former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide's resignation, hundreds of US and French troops arrived in Haiti on Monday to protect some key sites, such as airport.
After rebellion erupted on Feb. 5, some foreign airlines including Air France also suspended flights to Haiti.
Aristide resigned and flew into exile on Feb. 29, but his resignation has not lead to an end of violence as expected. With theft, robbery and arson prevailing, Port-au-Prince and towns nearby are still in chaos on Tuesday.
