New council formed in Haiti to appoint a prime minister 5/3/2004

A council of seven personalities was appointed Friday in Haiti to name a new prime minister and thegovernment of the Caribbean nation, reports from the capital Port-au-Prince stated.

The Organization of American States (OAS) said in a communique that the new prime minister was due to be picked in one week.

The opposition demanded the removal of current Prime Minister Yvon Neptune for his past close links with former President Jean Bertrand Aristide, who was forced by the United States to resign and go into exile Sunday in the Central African Republic.
