Chinese worldwide have voiced their objections to the so-called "referendum" in Taiwan on March 20, condemning the Chen Shui-bian clique's attempt to seek " independence" from China.
The Chinese community in Thailand on Friday called on all foreign countries to adhere to the one-China principle, saying the so-called "referendum" is a plot by the Chen Shui-bian regime to split China under the guise of democracy.
Their view was echoed by the Federation of Philippino-Chinese Associations of the Philippines, which said Chen Shui-bian, by seeking "independence" through the so-called "referendum," was trying to challenge the one-China principle, causing serious damage to relations across the Taiwan Strait.
On Thursday, 11 organizations of Chinese living in Germany issued a joint statement condemning the so-called "referendum" in Taiwan.
Taiwan is an inalienable part of China and nobody is allowed to split Taiwan from China by any means, the statement said, urging all Chinese, wherever they live, whatever their nationalities, party allegiance or ideological preferences, to unite as one in promoting reunification of their motherland.
In Tokyo, Japan Association for Promoting Peaceful Reunification of China warned Chen Shui-bian that any action against the will of the Chinese people across the Taiwan Strait and around the world in disregard of peace, stability and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region would only lead to a dead end.
Belgium Association for Promoting Peaceful Reunification of China and 12 other organizations of Chinese living in the country also voiced their opposition to the "referendum," saying Chen Shui- bian is "playing with fire" by pressing ahead with the so-called " referendum."
