The Iraqi issue held high position on the upcoming Arab League summit and there was a consensus on Friday over a draft resolution on the Arab stand towards it, Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa said here Saturday afternoon.
Moussa made the remarks at a joint press conference with Tunisian Foreign Minister Habib Ben Yahia.
Stressing that the Iraqi issue can never be absent from the Arab summit, Moussa said Arab League's position towards the Iraqi Governing Council (IGC) enabled the league to have meetings with the high ranking Iraqi figures including IGC members, Galaliddin Talbani and Masoud Barazani.
During such meetings the two sides exchanged views on vision of the IGC over the various issues and how the Arab League can contribute to the efforts being made to solve the Iraqi problem, he added.
An AL delegation had paid a 10-day visit to Iraq and met with the Iraqi leaders, he noted.
Moussa said the Arab League's door remained open for all Iraqi leaders to explain their expectations and their views over the various issues.
The Arab foreign ministers are meeting in Tunis to prepare for the upcoming Arab summit here on Monday.
