The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) warned Wednesday that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's disengagement plan would turn the Gaza Strip into a huge isolated jail.
Under the plan, "Israel will control the border between Gaza and Egypt, the border between Gaza and Israel and the shores of the Gaza Strip," PNA said in a statement.
"This can never be considered a withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. It is called changing the Gaza Strip into isolated big jail," the statement added.
The statement was issued after a meeting chaired by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in the West Bank town of Ramallah. The PNA hasdecided to have open-ended meetings to follow the current talks between Sharon and US President George W. Bush.
The statement said "any deal between Sharon and Bush would completely end the entire peace process and threaten security and settlement in the whole region."
