Visitors wait for the float parade.

The traditional float parade created a climax at the beginning of this year's Shanghai Tourism Festival on Sept 12, 2009. 22 floats and 36 groups of performers from home and abroad took part in the parade on Huaihai Road. Almost 500,000 people cheered in the grand event.

The month-long festival will last until Oct 6. More than 40 events are held during the fest.
