Volunteers visit Tibetan poverty families

The Eastday Volunteers reached Lakouzi Town in Diebu County in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of south Gansu. They visited the primary schools in the mountain area and Tibetan poverty families and donated a little financial aid of love.

As the mountain road from Min County to Diebu County was so steep, the volunteers set out very early. It was nearly at noon when they reached Lazikou Town. After lunch, the volunteers drove to Heiduo Village to visit the primary schools and poor families in mountain area together with the deputy head of Diebu County and the head of Lazikou Town.

The base of the volunteer group was located 1600 metres high, and Heiduo Village was 2300 metres high. Although it wasn't a far straight distance, it took almost 45 minutes to drive from the road at the bottom of the mountain to Heiduo Village at the top of the mountain. Climbing along the major street in the village, a mountain road of which the width was only for 2 people at the same time, the volunteers visited Heiduo Village Primary School in Lazikou County and the village party secretary's living house. Their arrival interrupted the teaching. The school dormitory was built in an extremely simple house with dim light. There was only one teacher in the school, so the over 100 children from preschool age to Grade 2 could only gather here together.

After learning the situation of the school, the volunteers presented the love envelop to school staff with the hope that this little sum of money could offer more opportunities for the teachers and children to read more books. When they left the school, they heard these children reading books aloud.

Then, the volunteers went to visit the poor villages in Lazikou County without any rest. By this supporting-education activity, each member learned more about teacher support, poverty
