Dollar trades in lower 106 yen range as sentiment bolstered by stimulus hopes

TOKYO, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar traded in the lower 106 yen range in Tokyo on Monday as investor sentiment improved amid expectations for economic stimulus in Germany and China.

The dollar was quoted at 106.40-41 yen at 5 p.m. compared with 106.33-43 yen in New York and 106.16-17 yen at 5 p.m. on Friday in Tokyo.

During the day, it tracked between 106.25 yen and 106.47 yen, trading most often at the 106.38 yen mark.

The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1103-1104 dollars and 118.14-18 yen against 1.1086-1096 dollars and 117.89-99 yen in New York and 1.1085-1087 dollars and 117.68-72 yen in late Friday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
