COFCO Coca-Cola Beverage Sichuan has built the city's first zero-waste community and unveiled an art festival at Renhechang community in Xindu district in Chengdu.

Volunteers and community residents have made artwork with recycled plastic bottles, which will be displayed in the community. Residents in Chengdu are also encouraged to earn beverages from Coca-Cola brands by turning in used drink bottles at designated sites.

The WeCare Bag, made from recycled bottles in an effort to explore the new circular economy model and advocate responsible consumption, has been on display at the community to cultivate residents' green awareness.

In the past 10 years, the company has invested nearly 7.8 million yuan ($1.22 million yuan) in energy conservation and environmental protection. Compared with 2010, the company has saved more than 1 million tons of water, 78 million mega joules of energy consumption and 6,900 tons of carbon dioxide.

Through the internal platform of the company, the company also shares information about "carbon peak, carbon neutral" and "green circular economy" with employees and partners, and encourages employees and partners to join environmental volunteer groups to advocate a green life.

Lin Yuting, communication officer with COFCO Coca-Cola Sichuan, said in the future the company expects to develop more programs with local communities in terms of water recycling and green agriculture to encourage wider participation from society on building a waste-free city to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
