WUHAN, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese and U.S. regional legislators promised cooperation and exchange at the Second U.S.-China Subnational Legislatures Cooperation Forum closed Tuesday in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province.

The forum was co-hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the State Legislative Leaders Foundation (SLLF) of the United States, and the Standing Committee of Hubei Provincial People's Congress.

Participants included legislators from 12 U.S. states and standing committee members from the people's congress of Hubei, Hebei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Henan, Jiangxi and Guizhou provinces, and Chongqing Municipality.

The Wuhan Declaration was announced following the forum.

Legislators said they will strengthen communication on policies and laws at a subnational level to strengthen the role of legislatures in social governance.

Representatives from both sides agreed that a healthy and stable China-U.S. relationship is in line with the interests of the two countries and peoples, while exchanges at the subnational level form an important basis and driver for the development of the overall relationship between the two countries, the declaration said.

They will support cooperation between Chinese and U.S. enterprises in infrastructure, intelligent manufacturing and services, it said.

Both sides will also support all-around pragmatic cooperation between China's Yangtze River Basin provinces and Mississippi River Basin states in the United States.

Legislators said there should be further exchanges between Chinese provinces and U.S. states in areas, including economy and trade, people-to-people exchanges, ecology and environment, it said.
