From:Shanghai Daily  |  2020-08-22 04:29

THE International Awards for Art Criticism greets its seventh year and calls for submissions from art critics from around the world.

Candidates are invited to write a review of 1,500 English words or 2,500 Chinese characters on any exhibition of contemporary art held anywhere in the world or, for the first time this year, online, between September 15, 2019 and December 20, 2020. There are no restrictions on contributors in terms of their age, status, or professional background. The deadline for entries is December 20.

Award organizers reserve the right to edit and publish all shortlisted texts, whether digitally or in hard copy, regardless of whether or not they have been previously published elsewhere.

The first prize includes 10,000 euros (US$11,290) and a visit to Shanghai or London for an essay in Chinese or English. There are also three equal second prizes of 3,500 euros each.

The international jury consists of Iara Boubnova, director of the National Gallery of Bulgaria; Rhana Devonport, director of the Art Gallery of South Australia; Ding Ning, professor of Art History and Theory at Peking University; Richard Dyer, editor-in-chief of Third Text; and Pauline J Yao, lead curator of Visual Art, M+.

All submissions will be judged in conditions of strict anonymity.

All candidates are required to log onto the official IAAC website (www.iaac-m21.com), enter the relevant details and upload their review and any accompanying images. They may add or alter information at any time up to the deadline.

For more inquiry please call 6105-2121, or (44) 20-7590-4423 (UK).
