During the Lantern Festival or Yuan Xiao Festival which falled on March 2nd, people greeted various entertainments like eating small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour,visiting lantern fairs and solving lantern riddles, etc. Here is the method of making a traditional lantern in the shape of a rabbit.

Step1. Prepare a roll of thick wire with a length of about 5 meters.

Step2. Prepare a vise or nipper pliers, tape, glue, rice papers, a red paper.

Step3. Make two oval iron rings and stick into the main skeleton. Vertically fix the skeleton with two round rings.

Step4. Make two round rings as the head of the rabbit lantern.

Step5. Make two oval rings as the ears of the rabbit lantern.

Step6. Make two small rings as the tail of the rabbit lantern.

Step7. Use the base wheel of a wasted toy car as the base of the lantern. Fix the base onto the lantern skeleton. Fix a candle onto the base.

Step8. Use glue to stick the rice paper onto the iron rings.

Step9. Cut out rabbit’s red eyes and ears from the red paper and stick them onto the rice paper.

Step10. Cut the extra rice papers into the shape of tassel and stick them onto the lantern body.
