Updates on new coronavirus cases in Pudong
By:Wu Qiong   |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2020-11-23 16:26

As of November 23 at 8 am, nucleic acid tests of 55 people who had close contacts with the two newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pudong have been negative, said Li Guohua, deputy mayor of Pudong New Area, at a press conference held Monday morning.

The two new local cases, surnamed Cao and Zhang, have been transferred to the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center Based in Jinshan District.

Both Cao (male, aged 49) and Zhang (female, aged 31) are related to former confirmed cases working at Pudong airport.

Cao lives in a residential community at No 126 Alley Shunhe Road, Zhangjiang Town, Pudong. Epidemiological investigation shows that over the past 14 days, he had been to the Sunqiao Vegetable Market apart from his workplace.

Zhang lives in Xinsheng residential area in Zhuqiao Town, Pudong. Investigation shows that she has been to public places like a KFC store on Chenyang Road, and a bubble tea store in Sunshine Paradise shopping mall on East Gaoke Road.

Regarding the two cases discovered on November 9, the source of infection could be a Unit Load Device (an airplane cargo container) which was exposed to foreign imported cases in the airport, said Sun Xiaodong, deputy director of CDC Shanghai. The infected ULD was from North America and the infected two workers did not wear masks when cleaning the ULD.
