As the Tesla Shanghai plant is embracing an enlarged production capability, the demand for professional talent is also growing. To enhance staff members’ skills via college resources, Tesla signed an agreement with the Shanghai University of Electric Power, a local application-oriented college, on November 26.

The agreement involves jointly developing the New Energy Automobile Industry College, laboratories and a training base.

The college’s training of nearly 300 Tesla employees will last for two years and cover over 20 courses including basic theory courses, major-based professional theory courses like electrical, and mechanical engineering and automation, as well as practical courses.

Since Tesla is in urgent need of local talent, especially in the fields of charging piles, energy storage, and automation, in the near future, the cooperation is expected to realize the innovation and upgrading of the company’s talent training mechanism.

For the college, which recently opened a new campus in the Lingang New Area where the Tesla plant is located, the innovative cooperation between industry, university and research institution will further boost its contribution to the development of the Pudong district.
