An online course on Chinese printing was launched by the Shanghai Publishing and Printing College on December 10, attracting hundreds of Chinese and foreign students to watch.

The course is the first of a series launched by the college together with Uzbekistan’s Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, aiming to spread Chinese publishing and printing technique awareness, Chinese calligraphy and painting culture, and Chinese traditional food and festival culture to eight countries along the Belt and Road.

Named after Bi Sheng, the Chinese investor of the world’s first known movable type technology, a workshop was founded by the Shanghai college and the Uzbekistan institute.

According to Chen Bin, president of the Shanghai college, before they established the workshop, lots of surveys had been done which showed that countries involved in the Belt and Road, especially Central Asian countries, have a strong demand for printing technique training as well as China's printing and packaging equipment and materials.

With a deep pool of teachers and printing professionals, the college is confident in cultivating talent in printing and packaging, as well as publication and media on the foreign side. In addition, it will help Chinese printing and packaging companies to export products and services to these foreign countries.
