Recently, the British think tank Z/Yen Group released the 29th Global Financial Center Index (GFCI 29). Shanghai continued to rank third in the world, with the level of financial technology rising to second in the world, showing that its status as an international financial center in creasingly consolidated.

The ranking of the world's top ten financial centers is: New York, London, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing, Tokyo, Shenzhen, Frankfurt, Zurich.

In this issue of the Global Financial Center Index, 126 financial centers were studied. The index adopts a total of 143 characteristic in dicators. The relevant quantitative data is provided by third-party institutions, including authoritative international organizations such as the World Bank, World Economic Cooperation Organization, and International Monetary Fund. At the same time, the ranking also incorporates online questionnaires completed by a total of 10,774 respondents from all over the world.

2020 is the final year for Shanghai to achieve the national strategic goal of "basically building an international financial center commensurate with the country's economic strength and the RMB's international status". Analysts ranked Shanghai third in the two consecutive GFCI rankings in September 2020 and March this year.
