From:shine  |  2018-01-17 17:29

Expat volunteers and Chinese police and fire authority officers are preparing posters at the Hongqiao Campus of Shanghai Community International School.

Shanghai police and fire authorities have enlisted some expatsto help spread the word about the city's firework ban as the Chinese New Year approaches.

Shanghai has banned the use of fireworks and firecrackers within the Outer Ring Road.

In Changning District, expat volunteers have helped hand out notices of the ban in Chinese, English, Korean and Japanese languages to international schools and residential neighborhoods with expat populations.

Several expats from the US, France, South Korea and Japan also shot a public service advertisement about the ban together with Chinese police and fire authority officers.

About 69,000 expats from 78 countries and regions live in Changning District, accounting for one-fourth of all expats in Shanghai and one-tenth of all residents in the district.
