Bioscience centers established in Songjiang
By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2018-07-19 18:00

Brain science and brain-inspired science and technology, popularly represented by monkey cloning technology, have landed in the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Valley, Songjiang District, Shanghai. On July 18, the innovation valley witnessed the inauguration of the G60 Brain Intelligence Scientific and Innovative Research Base.

(Zhongzhong and Huahua, the world’s first cloned monkeys, were created at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai. They were cloned by the same method that created Dolly the sheep.)

The research base was jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology (CEBSIT) and the Songjiang People’s Government.

Two other bioscience centers based in Songjiang were also unveiled the same day.

The G60 Innovation Valley, as an important measure taken by the Shanghai government to build the city into an international science and technology center, serves as an engine driving the development of the Yangtze River Delta.

The G60 brain science centre will focus on the R&D of a number of core technologies such as cloning technology, and the industrialization of technologies. A group of leading enterprises in high-tech fields such as brain science and brain-inspired technology will hopefully be set up, thus becoming the source of scientific and technological innovation in the whole country.
