Since the underwater dance work Rhapsody on the Luo River Goddess became a hit around the Mid-Autumn Festival, the high tech film and television production of Shanghai’s Songjiang district where the work was produced has been catching lots of attention.

The Tugong Underwater Photography Base in Shanghai Songjiang Hi-Tech Films and Television City was the first choice for many crews to shoot underwater. Costing more than 7 million yuan, the base was put into use in 2016. It covers an area of 3860 square meters and is equipped with underwater studios and supporting workshop.

The steel tank which has a national design patent certificate is compatible with lighting design, convenient to change the shooting background. Moreover, the pool has an underwater set decoration lifting platform and camera lifting platform.

A water constant temperature system in the pool maintains the water temperature at about 29 degree centigrade, and the water circulation system ensures the long-term water cleanness.

According to Liang Shui, head of the Tugong Photography Base, the crew of Rhapsody on the Luo River Goddess had high requirements for proper water temperature, since it required actresses to stay underwater for a long time. “They agreed this shooting place at their first investigation,” said Liang.

Up to now, the Shanghai Hi-Tech Films and Television City in Songjiang district accommodates nearly 7,000 films and television enterprises and studios, covering all aspects of the industry chain such as film and television creation, shooting, training, publicity and distribution.

On June 17, another batch of projects with a total value of 20 billion yuan settled in the film capital, including the Haopu Film and Television Base that has 4 high-tech studios and 1 underwater digital studio.
