Shanghai reported 1 newly confirmed local COVID-19 case and 1 new asymptomatic case outside of quarantine and locked down communities at a municipal government press conference on October 8.

The following areas have been listed as medium-risk: The area to the east of Chenjiabang, south of Huazhong Highway, west of Zhongxin Aiqi Port and north of Dongkoujing in Zhongxin Village, Chonggu Town, Qingpu District; Lane 518, Chonggu Town Avenue, Qingpu District, and Rest Hotel on Lanxi Road, Caoyang Xincun Sub-district, Putuo District.
