CAIRO, June 18 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Cultural Center in Cairo held a seminar late Monday about the current status of young Chinese writers, youth literature in China and their leading role in the modern life.

"Chinese youth literature, especially the Internet literature, is a unique cultural phenomenon, which has special influence world wide," said He Hong, director of Internet Literature of the Chinese Writers Association, during the seminar.

He said before the emergence of the new Chinese literature, young people abandoned the traditions of ancient Chinese language, and advocated writing in modern Chinese language.

The director mentioned prominent names like Lu Xun, Guo Moruo, Mao Dun and other Chinese writers who led the cultural trend in China with new works that helped to deepen the new scientific and cultural movement in the people's hearts and led to the progress of Chinese society.

Admitting the role of the young writers, He stressed that China's new methods of writing literature have been initiated by young writers who contributed in more than 100 years of development of new Chinese literature.

Upon the beginning of the reform and opening up, a group of young writers through literature tended to reconsider the problems that existed in China at that time, and pushed the intellectual freedom of the whole society strongly, according to He.

"Youth literature has a great influence on the Chinese society and played a very important role in leading social and intellectual attitudes," he said, adding that "Chinese literature writers are seeking to achieve a bigger success in the field."

He sees young writers as the most important promoters and participants in the modern literature of China.
