Residents in 15 cities along the lower reaches of the Yangtze River enjoyed a rapid increase in income in the first half of this year. All the 15 cities gained a two-digit year-on-year growth averaging at 14.8 percent in per capita disposable income which reached 6,938 yuan (US$836), 2,123 yuan more than the national average. Shanghai, Shaoxing and Ningbo boasted the largest amount of per capita disposable income, all exceeding 8,000 yuan.
