A woman splashed excrement all over her ex-husband's residence twice this week and then attacked him after the man failed to make child support payments, according to a local newspaper.

The man, surnamed Cai, divorced the unidentified woman in June but did not pay child support for the past several months, a neighborhood committee member where Cai lives told the Xinmin Evening News.

The ex-wife and several friends tried to enter Cai's sixth-floor residence on Monday in the Pudong New Area. When Cai didn't open the door, the woman and her friends threw two buckets of excrement onto the door and exterior walls of the man's home, the newspaper said.

"Each bucket held 20 kilograms of liquid, and you can imagine how terrible the scene was and how smelly the whole building became," a witness told the newspaper. "We had to close our windows to keep out the disgusting odor."

The woman and her friends returned at 2am on Wednesday. Cai opened the door and was beaten badly, according to the report.
