The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Friday blamed South
Korea for developing a cruise missile that can hit most of the strategic targets
in the DPRK's territory.
In a statement issued by the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the
Fatherland, the DPRK described the "above-said arms build-up" as "an intolerable
provocation as it will push the inter-Korean relations to the phase of
confrontation and war."
"The army and people of the DPRK will never remain a passive on-looker to the
reckless confrontation moves of the South Korean warlike forces to step up their
dangerous arms buildup against the north," said the statement.
South Korea's first cruise missile has been developed jointly by the
country's military and the state-run Agency for Defense Development, according
to South Korean press.
The missile has a range of 500 km and is capable of hitting targets in the
northern-most parts of the DPRK.
