Bank offers free on-line service to donators helping tsunami-hit region
7/1/2005 17:10

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), China's biggest bank, is offering on-line services to those who want to donate money for the tsunami-hit Asian countries.
Through the ICBC website donators can easily finish the payment that will immediately reach a special account of the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC).
The bank's service is free of charge for both donators and the RCSC, while the RCSC has pledged to allocate all the donations for the disaster-hit areas.
After earthquakes and tsunamis devastated southeast Asian countries in the Indian Ocean on Dec. 26, Chinese people from all walks of life and non-governmental organizations across the country have rushed to offer help.
The RCSC had already transferred US$660,000 to the disaster-stricken regions by Jan. 1, sources say.
