Locals have car purchase plans
19/4/2004 15:54

More than half of 225 locals surveyed plan to buy a car within three years, the Jiefang Daily reported today, with over 80 percent preferring domestic cars.

About 45 percent plan to buy cars priced between 60,000 and 100,000 yuan (US$7,200 - US$12,000), while nearly a third wanted cars priced between 110,000 and 150,000 yuan.

About one-fifth of the respondents cited high prices as the main reason for not buying currently. Other reasons for not buying: license plate prices too high (15%), not enough parking places (10%), inconvenience of maintenance (9%), and traffic jams (8%).
