A total of 700 license plates specifically for public service vehicles, the second of its kind in Shanghai, will be auctioned off on November 29, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported today.
The auction, to be held between 13:20 and 16:30, will start with a base price. Bidders can handle administrative procedures as of tomorrow.
Including public-funded cars into the local license plate auction system is part of the local reforms on public service vehicles. Applicants can bid for the plates via telephone or the Internet, with the results published on the Shanghai transportation website.
Currently, these auctions are being held on a trial basis, and are expected to start officially next year, said an industry analyst.
