The growing number of migrant workers in the city are employed in the construction industry, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.
Shanghai Construction and Management Commission estimates that there are 500,000 to 700,000 migrant workers, or one-seventh of its non-natives working in the local construction industry. Only 10 percent of those who serve in the industry are natives. The city's 4.99 million non-natives currently account for a quarter of the local population.
