Home appliance buyers should feel excited as they can save up to 30 percent on the products they want to purchase from this week, thanks to a holiday promotion announced by China Paradise Electronics Retail Ltd yesterday.
China Paradise announced the promotion that includes 5 billion yuan (US$600 million) worth of home appliances this week for the upcoming weeklong National Day holiday, with the prices knocked down by an average of 30 percent.
At the 10th Shanghai Color TV Festival that started last week, China Paradise and Gome Electrical Appliance Holding Ltd jointly purchased 3 billion yuan worth of flat-screen TVs and slashed the prices by 20 percent, with 42-inch LCD TVs priced at only 7,999 yuan. More than 30,000 flat-screen TVs were sold at China Paradise's outlets in Shanghai last weekend, said spokesman with the marketing department of China Paradise.
The promotion has been supported by more than 500 home-appliance manufacturers, the spokesman added.
For the Chinese home appliance sector, sales from September and October usually account for around one-third of the total annual sales, so the National Day holiday is quite important, said an industry analyst.
