TV festival to evaluate domestic TV industry annually
19/3/2003 17:51

Shanghai TV Festival, held every year in June, will submit an annual analytical report on China's TV industry starting this year, Xinmin Evening News reported today.

The Festival organization committee and the CVSC-SOFRES MEDIA (CSM), China's largest media research and consulting center under the Central TV Station of China (CCTV), yesterday signed a contract in Shanghai to cooperate on the project.

It's expected that the report, which will include extensive statistics and market analysis, will serve as an authoritative guide to China's TV industry, which is still young and immature, and will help increase efficiency and reduce risks.

This year's report will focus on the TV serial drama market.

Last year China produced some 12,000 TV drama episodes, including some 1,600 produced in Shanghai.
