At least 12 countries have been confirmed their participation in the forthcoming West African Football Union U-20 men's football competition, local media Punch reported today.
The competition takes place between Nov. 30 and Dec. 14 in Warri, Delta State.
Head of the Local Organizing Committee Media Committee, Ade Ojeikere, said early this week in Abuja that the countries expected to join Nigeria are Togo, Benin, Mali, Sierra Leone, Cape Verde, Guinea, Niger, Senegal, Ghana, Liberia and Cote d' Iviore.
He said, "We had a very fruitful deliberation and all the committees were united in their conviction that the forthcoming event must be organized professionally and according to global best practices."
"WAFU has been dormant for over a decade but with this competition, it is the beginning of greater things to come for the sub-region," he said.
The LOC, Ojeikere added, discussed the budgets of the Media, Marketing and Protocol Sub-Committees respectively, while the Facilities, Venues and Technical sub-Committees were expected to submit theirs after the visit to Warri tomorrow.
