Peruvian PM requests political truce
16/10/2008 16:10

New Peruvian Prime Minister Yehude Simon yesterday called for a political truce with opposition groups so that he could carry out administration without excessive impediment.
"The plan we presented for the next 90 days means a small truce," Simon said yesterday in an interview at a local radio station.
He said that all parties should for the moment discard the "political labels" and the opposition party should refrain from waging a "war" against the government, Simon said.
He denied accusations that he accepted the president's appointment with additional conditions and promised to perform his duties well.
He also said he would change two or three ministers before December.
