Train T1 pulled by the improved “Mao Zedong” Locomotive was running out of Beijing station on December 25, 2014. On that day, “Mao Zedong” Locomotive was officially put into operation after the fifth improvement and pulled Train T1 running from Beijing Station to the terminal of Changsha Station in the morning on December 26, the 121st anniversary of Mao’s birthday.
“Mao Zedong” Locomotive, invented in October, 1946, is now affiliated with Beijing Fengtai Railway Locomotive Dept. It witnessed the development and progress of Chinese railway from the first steam locomotive, then diesel locomotive, to the current 3D high power electric locomotive. With the cumulative safety travel of 9.63 million kilometers, “Mao Zedong” Locomotive is regarded as China’s top locomotive. (Eastday/Jiang Wenran)
