Nearly
100 enterprises were honored the “Heading Toward 2040: Corporate Innovation and
Urban Sustainability” Excellence Awards on September 8 for their contribution
to promoting Shanghai’s innovation and sustainability.
Aiming at promoting sustainable initiatives in Shanghai and China, the “Heading Towards 2040: Corporate Innovation and Urban Sustainability” Excellence Awards campaign consisted of two parts: a case collection and a forum. After their cases were reviewed by panelists and voted by the public online, 25 enterprises won the 2017 Sustainability Best Practice Awards; 55 enterprises won the 2017 Sustainability Influencer Awards; and 17 companies received the 2017 Sustainability Communications Awards.
On the forum, company representatives from Shanghai Jahwa, AB InBev and other enterprises shared their best practices of innovation and sustainable development. It showcased their endeavors to help Shanghai achieve its master plan for 2016-2040 and to fulfill China’s sustainable development targets.

Officially launched on June 12, the three-month campaign was jointly sponsored by the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, and Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau. Organizers of the event were Shanghai Daily, Shanghai Observer of Jiefang Daily and Eastday.com.
Since
its first edition in 2015, the event has been held for three consecutive years and
has been widely recognized and participated by multinationals, state-owned
enterprises and private companies in Shanghai.
This year's campaign, for the first time, launched the Sustainable Communications Awards to encourage more companies to share their development stories in Shanghai.
