An AI voice converter has been deployed in hospitals in Wuhan, providing assistance and security for medical staff fighting against the COVID-19.

The converter allows doctors to dictate medical records rather than type them, speeding up the process and avoiding cross contamination. With an accuracy of over 98%, it can convert 400 words per minute and then input them into the computer.

The device has been put in use in several hospitals in Wuhan and Xiangyang in Hubei province.

Apart from the voice converter, a voice-based intelligent robot is also being deployed by people on the frontline of the anti-epidemic battle. Based on the medical staff’s treatment plans for different groups of people, the robot can assist in fever detection and follow-up visits among key groups.

The robot can also be used in neighborhoods to help community workers, as part of its new AI application scenarios.

The company behind the voice converter and the AI robot is mobilized by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization. The government body, since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, has been collecting new technology, products and applications for the prevention and control of the epidemic. As of Feb. 25, more than 300 innovations have been recruited.
