118 years ago, Otis, a subsidiary of United Technologies, installed China’s first elevator for the Peace Hotel in Shanghai. Today, in the 21st century, the United Technologies has provided seven advanced integrated aviation systems for China’s large aircraft C919. Also, it has set up a joint venture with AVIC EM to develop and buildthe power supply system for C919. As a global leader in construction and aviation, United Technologies has never stopped elevating China to a new height.

United Technologies’ Pratt & Whitney GTFTMengine, adopted by Air China, Southern Airlines and Sichuan Airlines, has been proved to increase fuel efficiency by 16percent, reduce regulated nitrogen oxide emissions by 50percent, and reduce noise trajectories by 75percent. The 12 elevators provided by Otis to Shenzhen Ping An Finance Center, China’s second tallest building, consume less energy than ordinary elevators by 75percent.

United Technologies is built on innovation and it continues to carry forward this spirit in Shanghai. The company has 10R&D centers in China, three of which are in Shanghai. One of the three institutes was established in 1997 and it is one of the earliest wholly foreign-funded R&D institutes in China.
