SANOFI Deep roots in China to serve China

Sanofi entered China in 1982 and is headquartered in Shanghai. Its business covers pharmaceuticals, vaccines and consumer health care.

Sanofi, with the belief of “in China forChina,” is one of the first foreign pharmaceutical companies to enter China, when it was in the early stage of reform and opening up. The company is committed to bringinghealth care to 1.4 billion Chinese people. So far Sanofi China has introduced more than 40 innovative drugs and vaccines, which cover seven of the top 10 diseasesascauses of death in China.

In 2011, Sanofi became the first multinational pharmaceutical company to set up a county-specific primary care business unit, which now covers more than 1,600 counties. The company also has three production bases in Beijing, Hangzhou and Shenzhen. Sanofi has about 9,500 employees in China.

Sanofi has set up in Shanghai the China R&D Center and the Asia-Pacific R&D Center, and in Chengdu the Global R&D Operations Hub, focusing on R&D of drugs against high-risk diseases in China and Asia-Pacific, such as diabetes and cancer.
